Outline for Story Creation

A Helpful Guide In Planning Your Plotline

Beginning 1:

This is where you start your story. It can be a prologue or simple an origin story of some kind.

1. Setting – What world, country, or type of place is the story set in.
2. Main Character(s). Who is the story about, or which characters will it follow.
3. It may be best to set the “goal” of the story in this part.

Beginning 2:

It’s time to get that story in motion!

1. What is the first (or second) step in your characters’ journey?
2. Are there any new cast members at this point?
3. Think about anything that’s important for your story to move forward.

Rise 1:

Now that your story is on its way, it’s time to get that rise on!

1. We’re getting ever closer to the main goal. Where are your characters now?
2. What tasks have your characters accomplished or are about to come to?
3. Has the “villain” appeared yet?</h5>

Rise 2:

We should be just a few chapters away from the Climax at this point.

1. Think about if there are any battles that need to occur before the climax, even if the climax is a battle or war.
2. What final elements need to come into play?
3. Is there a final destination the characters must reach for the climax to occur?

Climax:

Its finally here! Time for the main event to begin!

1. What are the key parts to this climax?
2. How does the “villain” react to the “hero” in this part?
3. How is the issue resolved?

Descent 1:

This is the part immediately after the climax.

1. What is the initial feel from the heroes after their success?
2. Is there anything else, even small things, that need to be wrapped up?
3. Was the “villain” defeated or “reformed”?

Descent 2:

This part is closing in on the end. Not completely necessary for a series.

1. Think about what kind of “closure” your character(s) need.
2. Are they on a journey back home, or getting back in touch with anyone or anything?
3. Which characters grew closer together during the journey? You may touch on their change.

End 1:

This may be the final part of the story if you are making a series.

1. Where have all your characters, namely the hero(s), ended up after their ordeal and recovery?
2. Did they have to learn to live with a new disability or were they improved in some way?
3. (If in a series) What will spur the next chain of events?

End 2:

Time to wrap things up. This is usually an epilogue for me.

1. If this is an Epilogue, have your characters come back together after some time apart?
2. Did any of the characters have families that they gained or got back in touch with?
3. How have their surroundings changed since the beginning of the story?<div>
I basically wanted to write some complete bullsh*t to save, but it felt weird to leave it blank, so I wrote anything I could think of (that was relevant).

good things to think about. I have a bunch of unfinished stories in my head, I'd love to finish something so I can start putting it down in some sort of medium...
thanks a bunch~!
